partypoker hosted a charity tournament for NHS charities in light of the recent Coronavirus pandemic.
The tournament was hosted on Thursday night with the likes of professional poker player Daiva Byrne making the final table.
partypoker revealed that 50% of the prize pool would go to the NHS charities with it also matching all donations.
The decision to raise money for the NHS charities comes after a nationwide effort to help the country’s health care system amid mounting demand from patients of Covid-19.
99-year-old war veteran Captain Tom Moore single-handedly raised £18 million after pledging to complete 100 laps of his garden to celebrate his 100th birthday.
So far more than 13,000 people in the UK have died of Coronavirus, putting immense strain on the NHS and its brave workers.
partypoker’s decision to help the cause shows yet again how the poker and gaming industry step up to help during a national crisis.
Coin Rivet also recently reported on how partypoker were running a tournament to help out of work poker dealers, many of whom have had their careers put on hold due to live events being postponed.
