Cryptocurrency wallet provider Ledger have revealed their new Nano X hardware wallet, which includes bluetooth capabilities.
The implementation of bluetooth means users can sync their cryptocurrency wallet with a mobile device. The move rectifies a major shortfall in hardware wallets over the past few years, with a common complaint being the lack of connectivity with mobile devices.
Unlike their previous best-selling wallet, the Ledger Nano S, the Nano X has the option to be completely wireless, connecting only through bluetooth.
The device also allows storage of up to 100 applications at the same time. Security has also seen an upgrade, with the company’s update stating: “Certified secure chip CC EAL5+ has been upgraded to keep your crypto safe and resist even the most sophisticated attacks.”
The release coincides with the announcement of Ledger Live, which will be an iOS and Android application for the wallet. The app, according to Ledger’s website, “offers a new way to easily manage all of your crypto accounts and transactions through one app, everywhere you go.”
Orders for the new hardware wallet will start shipping in March. The cost of the device is £109, double that of the Nano S, which is priced modestly at £54.50.
